Crochet queen

I did it!
A while ago I attempted to learn to crochet. Very unsuccessfully. Last week, I gave it another go at the Perle 8's Thursday night session, under the instruction of Mary (who is not only very knowledgeable but also talented in all areas hooks and wool - although she will hate me saying so). So instead of trying to learn by endless lengths of warped single chains (as was my last effort), this time around I got to make a pretty flower! Much better for the motivation and much better having helpful instructions. A BIG thanks Mary!!

Now on to seeing if I can crochet another and begin a new obsession?

  3. Well done! Be warned...the hook is VERY addictive. Try Kirsty's shrug - very easy x

  7. You did a great job, and I hope you've continued with the crochet kick. I've always got a project or two going on, but to me the easiest and fastest things to crochet are dish rags, or wash cloths. (You want to use cotton yarn, like "Sugar and Cream" brand). I use them in my kitchen instead of sponges.
I'll tell you one thing I learned long ago that really made crocheting much, much easier for me. It's this: the loop on your hook is NOT a stitch. So if your pattern says, for example, 'single crochet in second chain from hook' you count from the first chain past the hook and go from there. It helped me to not have wonky messes, LOL!
